Founded in 1996, Evans Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd. is a pioneer in the extraction and purification of Taxus derived anti-cancer medicines and natural compounds from medicinal plants, flowers, and barks. The company has developed Key starting material 10 DAB III used for purification of Paclitaxel and Docetaxel, a very potent ant- cancer drugs, beside expertise in processing botanicals with high therapeutic value and aims to position itself as Nepal’s first herbal-based Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) ie Pharmaceutical and ayurvedic raw material manufacturer.

Strategic Revival and Ownership

After facing operational challenges due to a government-imposed export ban on Taxus products under the CITES Act and internal disruptions, Evans Life Sciences has been successfully revived under new ownership. The company is now managed by TIME Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., with major investments from TIME Pharma Investment Pvt. Ltd. and NPI Narayani Samudayik Hospital Ltd., Bharatpur. This revival marks a new phase of strategic growth, modernization, and operational excellence.

Core Expertise and Product Line

Evans specializes in producing key intermediates for anti-cancer APIs, including 10Deacetyl Baccatin III (10-DAB-III), 7-Troc Paclitaxel, and 7,10-Di-Troc Docetaxel, derived from the Taxus species (Lauthsalla or Himalayan Yew). With rising global demand— estimated to reach USD 5 billion in the next five years—Evans is ideally positioned to capture a growing share of this high-value global anti-cancer market. The company sources raw materials sustainably from government and private forests, as well as through commercial cultivation by mid-hill farmers, generating rural livelihood opportunities and promoting remote economical benefits alongside ecological conservation.

Production Capacity and Research Initiatives

Having obtained all necessary DDA approvals, Evans has tripled its production capacity and now manufactures 10-DAB-III, 7-Troc Paclitaxel, and Berberine HCl, with expansion plans to introduce Curcumin, Reetha, and Escin from FY 2081/82. Additional R&D efforts are ongoing for Chiraita Extract, Podophyllotoxin, Artemisinin, Ginger extracts, and many rare herbal medicinal derivatives and many essential oils. The company’s associate company, Zydin Biotech Pvt. Ltd., is developing a state-of-the-art facility in Chitwan to produce anti-cancer APIs such as Paclitaxel, Docetaxel, Vincristine, and podophylin, meeting EU and US FDA accreditation standards. Zydin Biotech will primarlily utilize Evans’ intermediates as core raw materials; creating a vertically integrated pharmaceutical ecosystem within Nepal.
